At FREYWILLE, the creation of a collection begins with inspiration, passion and a feeling for motifs that result in an idea. It is a creative process that requires time and an open attitude to new things. Our artists, goldsmiths and enamel specialists incorporate their knowledge and creativity into every single step of production.
Art historical research and numerous sketches line the path from the moment of inspiration to the finished product, which is why the development of a collection can take as long as two years.
There are two elements in particular that are at the heart of the work done by our artists at FREYWILLE: joy in art and a passion for design. Many of our select collections pay homage to famous artists and our interpretations are unique. But other collections are based on thought in humanist philosophy. Pieces of jewellery thus created carry with them into the world a message of joy in life and an appreciation of intangible values. Each collection is different, but all FREYWILLE collections carry one common element: an enthusiasm for pure art.
A HEART OF FIRE ENAMEL
“Fire enamel is an elegant material; when handled correctly, it can become a timeless piece of jewellery. FREYWILLE’s process brings fire enamel to a state of perfection--the result is brilliant, shining colour and our trademark golden glow.”
The heart of every FREYWILLE jewellery piece is the distinctive and artistically designed fire enamel that is applied in many layers and then fired. Up to 100 manual steps are necessary to produce a delicate and colour-intense fire enamel plate, which is then fixed into a mounting. The perfected technique and unique colours make the pieces shine with a stunning brilliance.
All FREYWILLE jewellery pieces are hand-made in Vienna by masters of the genre, who guard the secret process. As passionate and experienced artists, they guarantee that the unique FREYWILLE jewellery is of the highest quality.

FREYWILLE puts the joy of art and the passion for creative power first. Under the direction of CEO Dr. Friedrich Wille and creative director Simone Grünberger-Wille, the FREYWILLE artists combine their skill and talent to create unique, classic collections for our customers.
For more than 30 years, FREYWILLE has been setting new standards in jewellery design, enameling processes and internationalization. Their passion for the humanist and philosophical traditions of Europe is a defining element of the FREYWILLE culture, which places above all else creative power and the joy of art. It this joy that we pass on to our customers, who value FREYWILLE’s pieces for their superior craftsmanship and artistry.
1951
FREYWILLE Comes to Life
The magic of FREYWILLE began in Vienna, in 1951. We remain in the same building, and it is here that we continue with the tradition of producing limited quantities of the finest hand-crafted jewellery.
1981
The Enamel Technique, Refined
It was in 1981 that we perfected the secret technique of fusing gold to fire enamel. This was crucial to the development of FREYWILLE—and it’s what gives all our of pieces that unmistakable FREYWILLE glow.
1995
Hommage à Claude Monet
FREYWILLE was honoured to be contacted by the Claude Monet Foundation, which asked if a collection could be created in honour of the Impressionist Master. The first of the Hommage à Claude Monet collections premiered in 1995.
1997
FREYWILLE Spreads Its Wings
This is the year when the FREYWILLE boutique concept took shape and launched. Openings in Vienna, Paris, London and Milan helped to spread art, happiness and inspiration throughout Europe.
1998
Hommage à Gustav Klimt
The work of the great Austrian artist captivates all who see it. FREYWILLE’s artists were also inspired and, in 1998, created the first of several jewellery collections in his honour.
2002
Boutique opening in Vienna.
Opening of the FREYWILLE boutique right next to St. Stephens Cathedral in the city center of Vienna.
2003
Hommage à Hundertwasser
Friedensreich Hundertwasser was another Austrian original—an architect, designer, environmentalist and artist. FREYWILLE’s artists found no end of inspiration in his works, and the resultant collections have been universally popular since the first was launched in 2003.
2004
To Russia, With Love
FREYWILLE opened its first boutique in Russia in 2004. The Moscow boutique has brought great art, joy and creative inspiration to many residents of Moscow, and has spread the FREYWILLE spirit throughout Russia.
2005
We Head West, and West Again
When FREYWILLE decided to enter the U.S. market, there was one obvious choice—Beverly Hills. Since its opening in 2005, FREYWILLE Los Angeles has been a prominent member of the famed luxury enclave that is Rodeo Drive.
2006
Ode to Joy of Life
FREYWILLE’s artists were tasked with creating a collection celebrating all the joys that life has to offer…the result is an uplifting colourful collection dedicated to happiness. Launched in 2006, it has been spreading joy throughout the world ever since.
2010
FREYWILLE Up North and Down Under
The year 2010 was particularly adventurous for FREYWILLE—the Sydney boutique became our first in Australia; the Vancouver boutique our first in Canada.
2013
Dedicated to colours
With the opening of the first boutique in South America - Bogotá, Colombia -, a long-term dream came true. The customers are enthusiastic about the vibrant colours and the joyful designs.

New York #2
Following the great success of the Madison Avenue boutique, FREYWILLE opened a second in New York—in Soho. It’s a perfect fit for the neighbourhood, fitting in nicely with the area’s energetic spirit and love of art and design.

Les Parfums FREYWILLE
The FREYWILLE perfumers took their inspiration from our jewellery designs and created four distinct scents: SPHINX Magique, SPHINX Innocent, SPHINX Rose and SPHINX Mystique. These rich, elegant scents are meant to envelop the wearer in a sense of haute luxury.

FREYWILLE is pleased to say that it now has 104 of boutiques. With every boutique its own art gallery, with every location an island of luxury, we are thriving in 37 countries and on four continents.
